Not quite in the groove at Grove

Despite a valiant effort, Cumnor U13s couldn't quite pull off a hat trick of wins from its tournaments this year. However with both teams qualifying from the group stages and one losing in the semi final, it's fair to say we have had good value for our entry fee.

We have learnt a lot from Crowmarsh, Summertown and Grove:

  • Our passing style of football works well against all types of sides;
  • We can shoot from distance when we need to;
  • There is an excellent team spirit;
  • Cumnor v Cumnor is always fun;
  • Adam and Fyn are not the jinx(s) everyone thought they were;
  • If you want to win, get in Matt Lay's team (he'll be back next summer no doubt);
  • Dave O'Shea should really be the Manager;
  • Finally, and most importantly, we have a great squad of boys:
    • All those from this season that want to stay are carrying on;
    • We have some great new players joining us for next year and we hope they all feel very welcome.
Well done to all who have participated in the tournaments, they have been great fun and on the whole very successful.   Enjoy the summer, we'll be training before you know it.
